In the red corner… hailing from Philadelphia… standing five-foot-seven with the heart of a heavyweight… we present the challenger, the underdog, the Rocky Balboa of Rap and Rock: MATTHEWS. Raised on the raw energy of pop punk, metalcore, and emo, Matthews picked up a guitar in 7th grade and never looked back. After years of playing in bands and teaching himself how to scream (because “I couldn’t sing at all”), he found his voice—literally. When his second band needed a vocalist, Matthews stepped up, learned how to write lyrics, scream with power, and slowly, sing with purpose.
After the band broke up, and tired of waiting on others, Matthews was born—a solo path that let him channel every heartbreak, every moment of doubt, every brush with faith, love, death, and redemption into something fully his own. He’s a product of dual worlds: the distorted guitars and vulnerability of 2000s alt rock blended with the hard-hitting 808s and gritty realism of modern hip-hop. Think your favorite band from Warped Tour colliding with your favorite rapper from Rolling Loud. Inspired by underdog legends like Allen Iverson, Rocky, Naruto, and even Cory Matthews (yup—from Boy Meets World), Matthews uses music as an outlet to unpack life’s highs and
lows. Every song is autobiographical. Every bar is pulled from a real-life moment.
